Zelfportret Anco Wigboldus

Anco Wigboldus, Ten Boer, 1900 - 1983

Wigboldus completed his MO-drawing certificate at the Academy of Expressive Art in The Hague and after that he went to the Higher Institute of Fine Art in Antwerp. During the period of 1951 – 1963 he lectured at the Willem Lodewijk Gymnasium in Groningen.

Wigboldus made drawings portrait paintings, relief printings and ceramic plastic arts. However, most characteristic is the way in which he laid down town views, stately homes, parks and castles with topographical precision. His preference for particularly the latter buildings even provided him with the name “castle- painter”.
The major part of his life Wigboldus lived in Groningen.
