Following his training at the Minerva Academy in Groningen, Ronda taught drawing and art history alongside his work as an artist. He lived in Warffum in Groningen but was involved in the founding of the Drents Schildersgenootschap (Drenthe Artists’ Society) and often worked in Drenthe. After initially working in a fairly traditional impressionist style, further to his consultancy work for a paint factory in which he tested different types of paint and paint formulas, he was inspired to take a more experimental and abstract approach to his own work.
