Marcel Duran received a classical training in the visual arts at the Minerva Academy in Groningen.
He paints what he sees around him: the landscape, the city with its buildings, streets and water; portraits and figures. He works from ‘living subjects’: portraits are painted from sitters, landscapes are painted outdoors – from nature itself. To capture the essence of the subject in a relatively short period of time. Something which makes his paintings both lively and atmospheric.
