Marian Kramer has done drawing, sculpting and painting her whole life. In her working life she was an art therapist and supervisor. Following her retirement, she studied at the Classical Academy in Groningen. In addition to working from her imagination, she also works from observation. She likes to portray something that fascinates her, such as a pose or an expression, the interplay of light and shadow, nature. She selects her subjects mostly from the world around her. She likes to work in oils but also uses mixed techniques.
She particularly enjoys working outdoors. Through painting she senses the landscape more intensely. The exhibited work was done in Oud Aalden at the annual outdoor painting day in September 2020.
She is inspired by the many old masters and women painters in art history, as well as contemporary artists whose works leave a personal and idiosyncratic impression.
