Portret Pieter Starreveld

Pieter, Koog a/d Zaan, 1911 - 1989

After an education at the Institute of Industrial Art in Amsterdam, sculptor Starreveld continued his education at the National Academy of Visual Art in Amsterdam, where he was a student of Jan Bronner. In the beginning he especially applied himself to sculptures of buildings and portraits.
Soon he acquired orders, such as woodcarving (intarsia) for the vessel: ‘Nieuw Amsterdam’ and for the Avro-foyer.
Beside his sculpturing Starreveld was active as medallist, graphic artist, painter and glass artist. For the municipality of Zweeloo, Starreveld made a number of stained-glass windows, two reliefs and two war memorials.
